Halong Bay to Mandalay 12 day

Halong Bay to Mandalay 12 day allow you a visit from Hanoi to Yangon and Mandalay, your vacation starts in Hanoi from where you’ll visit country’s charming capital, continue to Sapa with overnight train to experience a well planned trip that was waiting for you. Next step is to board a Halong Bay cruise to enjoy an overnight stay. Then we will fly to Yangon, and continue a magic journey through one of the secret destinations in Asia.

Day 1 Hanoi Arrival

Arrive and transfer to hotel, short rest before taking the cyclo ride through the Hanoi old quarter. Overnight Hanoi

Day 2 Hanoi tour – Night train to Sapa

A city tour will takes you to heart of the Hanoi old quarter from where you visit some old temples including Bach Ma, then head to visit Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, one pillar pagoda, temple of literature & History museum, tonight we board the night train to Lao Cai

Day 3 Captivating Sapa

After an early arrival in Lao Cai we take a short drive to Sapa and take breakfast in local restaurant before visiting a local colorful market. We then take a leisurely walk to Cat Cat village, home to the famous Black H’mong minorities and pay a visit to a local family. Then we visit Cat Cat waterfall for lunch. This afternoon we take a trail through the mountain surrounded by spectacular scenery to another local village. Latter we drive back to Sapa for the overnight stay

Day 4 Light trekking – Visit tribal villages

This morning we head to the Lao Chai Vilage from where we begin a short trekking to Ta Van village – home to the Dzay minorities for a rest and a picnic lunch. After lunch we continue our walk through a bamboo forest to Giang Ta Chai. This is a village of the Red Dao tribe, who dress in beautiful embroidered trousers topped with bright red turbans and chunky silver jewellery. Before we head back to Sapa we visit another beautiful waterfall for a refreshing end to the day. Sapa Overnight

Day 5 Sapa free & easy – night train back to Hanoi

Today is spent at leisure in Sapa. Explore the area on your own, Sapa also has a local market where you can buy souvenirs and try your hand at haggling. This evening we embark aboard our train back to Hanoi, the charming capital city of Vietnam

Day 6 Hanoi – Halong Bay with cruise

Arrive, transfer to hotel for breakfast and shower, then a scenic drive leads us to the stunningly beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site of Halong Bay. Boarding our traditional wooden junk boat we cruise the emerald waters soaking up the panoramic vista of the thousand or so karst limestone islands that stud the bay.

Later opt for a refreshing swim in one of the many sheltered coves before taking row boats to ‘Dark & Bright Lagoon’ Tonight, there’s a Vietnamese cooking demonstration held on the sundeck before an impressive seafood dinner is served.

Day 7 Halong Bay – Hanoi

Start the day with a Tai Chi class on the sundeck or a traditional massage. After exploring a lofty grotto or enjoy a Kayaking through the magnificent Bay, lunch on board then, transfer to port to drive back to Hanoi.

Arriving to Hanoi mid afternoon an hour or so is spent exploring the ‘36 streets of the old quarter’. The motorbike swarming narrow lanes are each named after various guilds of the city’s artisan who established themselves here centuries ago. There is Silver Street, Silk Street, Comb Street, Paper Street and more. The maze of rambling streets are framed by narrow front tube houses and we may have a chance to sample the exotic fruits, sizzling noodle dishes and delightfully sticky snacks being offers by he pavement vendors. Day 8 Flight to Yangon in Myanmar

Today we flight to Yangon in Myanmar, upon arrival you will be transferred to the hotel. Overnight Yangon

Day 9 Yangon visit

Explore Yangon and its famous religious monuments. We begin at the waterfront, the heart of the city and home to many impressive traditional and colonial buildings including the Sule Pagoda, Maha Bandoola Park with Independence Monument, the City Hall and the High Court. We also visit the gold, hollow Botahtaung Pagoda, originally built over 2500 years ago, and the giant 70 metre-long reclining Buddha of Chaukhtagyi Paya whose serene features are topped by a crown encrusted in diamonds and other precious stones.

Later this evening we visit the most revered Buddhist temple in Burma, the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda, where locals gather to make offerings and prayers. Standing at 90 metres tall, the gold leaf central stupa dominates the city’s skyline and turns vivid hues of yellow, orange and red when the sun begins to set. Overnight Yangon

Day 10 Fly to Mandalay

This morning we fly to Mandalay, Burma’s last royal capital. After hotel check in we head to the jetty for a pleasant boat ride upriver to Mingun to visit the remains of what could have been the world’s largest pagoda. Intended to reach a staggering height of 152 metres, work on the pagoda stopped after the death of King Bodawpaya in 1819. Dramatically split by an earthquake in 1838, the monumental structure is still incredibly impressive. We also visit the huge Mingun Bell and the beautiful white Myatheindan pagoda nearby.

Returning by boat to Mandalay the afternoon is spent exploring the Royal Palace, the teak carvings of the historic Shwenandaw Monastery and the world’s largest book at the Kuthodaw Pagoda. Our day concludes with Mandalay Hill and depending on the time, a spectacular sunset with vistas across the city. Overnight Mandalay

Day 11 Mandalay – Inwa

As a former capital of Burma, the ancient city of Amarapura is rich in sights and this morning we visit the largest teaching monastery in the country, the Mahagandayon Monastery. Everyday hundreds of monks queue to receive their daily alms from the people. We also visit the longest teak bridge in the world, the U Bein Bridge set over the enchanting Taungthaman Lake, and the Mahamuni Temple, home to an ancient bronze Buddha image. We’ll also have the opportunity to visit a local handicraft workshop to see bronze sculpting, gold leaf beating and marble stone carving.

The afternoon is spent at the historical city of Inwa where a horse-drawn carriage brings us to the stone Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery, a fine example of Burmese masonry, the Mainu brick monastery and the old watchtower. Get ready for the flight to Yangon, arrive and check in for overnight stay

Day 12 – Yangon – Departure
