Mekong waterways to Angkor Wat 13 day

Mekong waterways to Angkor Wat 13 day is a journey designed for luxury traveling from amazing Delta of Mekong to the Siem Reap in Cambodia. The trip start in Ho Chi Minh city from where you spend two day exploring what largest city of Vietnam has to offer, then, we will transfer to Me Tho to board the luxury cruise and start the journey through the amazing Mekong Waterways.

Note: Due to the low water level, the trip will not be available during the May to June, we will confirm the exact date when the booking is requested. Make sure to check Cambodia tour packages for possible extension

Mekong waterways to Angkor Wat

Day 1 Ho Chi Minh city arrival

Arrive and transfer to hotel, depending on your arrival time, we will arrange city tour for you, free complimentary massage is offered by Vietnam Tour Pedia , Overnight Ho Chi Minh city

Day 2 Cu Chi Tunnels + Saigon visit

In the morning we will travel to visit Cu Chi Tunnel, an underground tunnel system used as a shelter for Viet armies during the American war, your tour guide will tell you more about the site, drive back to Saigon in the afternoon for lunch and tour the city to visit major sites including War remnant museum, central post office and famous Benh Tanh market, Overnight Saigon

Day 3 Saigon – My Tho – Delta of Mekong

Drive to Mekong Delta and the town of My Tho, welcome aboard the Pandaw cruise, rest of the day is based on cruise plan. Overnight on board the cruise in Cai Be

Day 4 Saigon – My Tho – Delta of Mekong

In the morning passengers will visit Cai Be and its colourful floating market. In the afternoon take an exciting Sampan boat excursion to Sa Dec via Vinh Long, along canals and backwaters and see the local market and the ancient house of Mr, Huyn Thuy Le, the ‘lover’ of Marguerite Duras, a famous French novelist.

Day 5 Chau Doc

Visit a Cham tribal village and a cat fish farm in Chau Doc. Return to the ship by boat for lunch and cast off for the Cambodian border for the usual formalities.

Day 6 Phnom Penh

Passengers will visit Phnom Penh and will be provided with their own private cyclo*. The Cyclo Centre Phnom Penh which provides the cyclos is a charity that provides basic welfare and medical services to cyclo drivers. In the afternoon, optional excursion (by coach) to the Killing Fields and the Khmer Rouge’s grim Tuol Sleng or S21 detention centre. This tour is included in the cost of your cruise but must be requested at the time of booking in the comments box.

Day 7 Explore Tonle Sap River

Excursion up the Tonle River to Kampong Chhnang either by ship or by coach depending on water levels. Beyond Kampong Chhnang travel by the Pandaw Explorer to discover the vast wetlands around the mouth of the river. Here many fishtraps may be seen.

Day 8 Kampong Cham

We stop at the little-known Chong Koh silk-weaving village for a morning walk at leisure. In the afternoon we stop at Peam Chi Kang village to visit the wat or monastery and school. In the wat the splendid village racing boats are stored.

Day 9 Kampong Cham

Passengers visit the hilltop temple of Wat Hanchey in the morning. In the afternoon, travel by bus to visit the Twin Holy mountains of Phnom Pros and Phnom Srey (Man and Woman Hill). Continuation to the ecotourism village of Choeungkok supported by the Frech-Cambodian NGO.

Day 10 Siem Reap

Early morning coach transfer to the Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa in Siem Reap. Refreshments will be provided and we will stop at Kampong Thom along the way. Arrive at Siem Reap mid afternoon.

* Transfer by coach from Kampong Cham to Siem Reap takes approx 5 hours.

Day 11 Angkor Wat temple tour

A day to visit the last capital of the Angkorian Empire – Angkor Thom. This monumental fortified city is encircled by a 100m wide moat and is famed for the huge statue heads that glare down from every angle. We continue to the monastic complex of Preah Khan before heading to the mother of all temples – Angkor Wat. This breathtaking monument of man’s devotion to his gods is believed to be the largest religious building in the world and contains thousands of wall carvings and extensive bas-reliefs. In the evening we enjoy a walking tour to theold market area in Siem Reap

Day 12 Roluos temples and floating villages

This morning we visit the Roluos group of temples (Bakong, Lolei and Preak Ko), the earliest large and permanent temples built by the Khmers. The monuments mark the dawn of Khmer classical art, dating from the late 9th century, with elaborate inscriptions in the ancient Hindu language of Sanskrit. Later visit the floating village of Kompong Phluk. Houses built on soaring stilts hover over the Tonle Sap Lake whilst nearby, the petrified trees of a flooded forest are revealed whenever the water level drops. Overnight in Siem Reap
